In the Beginning

Natures Commonscents Geoff and Arthur

And this is how they got here... Just over twenty years ago two friends had a dream. That dream was to create a natural alternative to bathing their families in something other than the harsh chemically based soaps and washes available at that time.

They set about finding ingredients that were not only natural but were beneficial to the skin. Early on in their extensive research and after testing many types of ingredients they stumbled across a little known ingredient. That ingredient was goat’s milk. Not only was it natural and soothing they found it to be rich in essential fatty acids and triglycerides.

Their research uncovered the amazing properties of goat’s milk. Its essential fatty acids have a unique PH similar to humans, so it is less irritating and more easily absorbed by the skin. They found that these fatty acids and triglycerides were super moisturizing on the skin and it contained necessary skin minerals like selenium. It is loaded with vitamins including vitamin A which they also found was the most important vitamin for the skin. It contains lactic acid which is an alpha hydroxy acid that assists to gently slough off dead skin cells and helps to hydrate and brighten the skin. This led to finding another breakthrough in that it was able to help in nasty skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema.

Whilst goat’s milk had great appeal the research did not stop there. Further investigation uncovered another amazing ingredient that came directly from Mother Nature.

After many trials it became obvious that they could not ignore the benefits of Paw Paw. It was found to have unique ingredients not found in other fruits. These ingredients were papain and chymopapain which are enzymes that help break down proteins and convert them into amino acids, perfect for the skin. Added to this is Vitamin A, which like goat’s milk, assists in the maintenance and repair of skin cells and tissue. Vitamin C is full of antioxidants and is known to counter the negative effects of sun exposure. Vitamin E which is renowned for soothing and moisturizing the skin and also packed full of antioxidants. Calcium which helps regulate how fast new skin cells replace old ones. The enzyme rich Paw Paw also helps in cleansing, smoothing, exfoliating and replenishing the skin and its appearance, and helps rebuild elastin which prevents wrinkling of the skin.

So just over twenty years ago their dream became a reality when the first 100gm bars of Natures Commonscents soap went on sale. Fast track twenty years and the dream continues with many more products evolving in to the range today. Goat’s milk and Paw Paw they believe are still the perfect ingredients to add to anything that touches the skin and this enables the dream to continue.
